Why does the Bible say "fear not" so many times?
Because fear is the main way people get pulled away from who they are. "Fear not" is not a scolding — God is not annoyed that you are afraid. It is an invitation to come back to reality.
Look at how the sentence almost always continues:
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Isaiah 41:10
*For I am with you.* Every "fear not" comes with a reason, and the reason is never "because the danger isn't real" or "because you're tougher than you think." The reason is a Person. God does not demand the absence of fear; He offers His presence inside it — "I'm inside your pain" is nearer the Bible's tone than "toughen up."
It gets repeated so often because we need it so often. Fear is the oldest tool for making people forget their name. Freedom is not the absence of something. It is the presence of Someone, and He keeps saying so — by some counts, hundreds of times.
