What does the Bible say about fear?
The Bible treats fear not as a behavior to manage but as a false identity to exchange. You were not made to be a fearful person, so Scripture never coaches you on living skillfully afraid. It offers a trade: you give God your fear, and He gives back power, love, and a sound mind.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
2 Timothy 1:7
Notice that God never shames anyone for being afraid. "Fear not" is spoken to people whose fear was completely reasonable — soldiers, refugees, mothers, kings. He does not scold the fear; He traces it. Underneath every fear is a lie about God, about yourself, or about others: He has forgotten me. I am on my own. They are against me.
Name the fear honestly, find the lie inside it, and hand both to Him. God does not simply want to remove your fear. He wants to transform it — into the very courage you were asking Him for.
