How do I hear God's voice?
You ask Him a real question and get quiet enough to listen. Hearing God is learnable and normal — not mystical, not rare, and not reserved for pastors or prophets. The God of the Bible is a God who speaks, and Jesus said plainly that His people recognize His voice.
"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."
John 10:27
Most prayer is recitation: we talk, we finish, we leave. Try inquiry instead. Sit down with two honest questions — "God, what do you want me to know? What do you want me to do?" — and then stay. Write down what comes. His voice usually arrives as a brief, kind, unhurried thought that sounds truer than your anxious ones: "Stay. Drop it. You were never meant to carry that."
You will not get it perfectly, and you do not need to. A child learning their father's voice gets it wrong sometimes; nobody calls that failure, it is called learning. Start small, ask daily, test what you hear against Scripture — and expect to be answered. He was speaking before you started listening.
